June 19, 1949 – December 8, 2021
Our friend and partner Philipa Remington passed away on December 8, 2021. Stan, Russ, and Ty each practiced with Philipa throughout their entire legal careers; for 37 years, 33 years, and 25 years, respectively. Philipa was a valued friend, mentor, and partner to each during this time and was a friend and mentor to many of the non-lawyers she worked with at Thiebaud Remington Thornton Bailey, L.L.P., and her other law firms during her 43 years as an attorney. Philipa also set an example and looked out for the women lawyers that followed in her footsteps.
Philipa graduated from W.W. Samuell High School in Dallas, Texas, obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Arlington, and obtained her law degree from Southern Methodist University. As an attorney, Philipa focused in the representation of physicians and health care institutions in health care liability claims, and in the representation of physicians before the Texas Medical Board. She was particularly proud to represent the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, and obstetricians in labor and delivery-related health care liability claims.
Philipa is survived by her two sons, Christopher and Alexander, whom she adored. For anyone that crossed paths with Philipa it was impossible not to appreciate the dedication and passion she devoted to that which she believed in. Philipa spent many hours as a volunteer at Parkland Memorial Hospital rocking and interacting with the premature babies that required hospitalization away from their families but that still needed and craved love and caring.
The main conference room at Thiebaud Remington Thornton Bailey, L.L.P. is dedicated to and named in honor of Philipa. Philipa, we all at Thiebaud Remington Thornton Bailey, L.L.P. love and miss you.
